From the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Dream 14 headlines the current Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz, against Japanese grown Sakurai. Coming fresh off of ground and pounding Jason “Mayhem” Miller, the Stockton fighter is ready to fight Sakurai, and the best in the business. Diaz was scheduled to fight Sakurai once before, but due to scheduling conflicts the bout was terminated and Diaz was replaced. The Strikeforce belt will not be on the line in this clash of MMA worlds, unlike the previous Melendez versus Aoki fight, but it is good to see that Strikeforce is still in for the advancement of MMA by exchanging champs with other organizations. If only the UFC would put their business aside for the good of the sport. The word is that Diaz will contend his belt shortly after his trip to Japan, and is ready to do so. The brawler is also ready to take on the best with the likes of GSP as his target. But before that happens, Dana White says he needs to calm down and play the game. Which isn’t very likely for the Strikforce fighter, as seen in the post shields fight melee.
Dream 14 is also rumored to have installed its signature white cage once again, which most fighters such as Diaz, seem to be against. Is Dream trying to assimilate into American MMA? Are they turning away from their resurrection of a Pride like organization?
